Set in The Marsh Inn which is run by Mrs Grayson and her grandson York. Among the guests are Louis Westcott - a frail young man who turns out to be a drug addict and Una Debrek, a research scientist. They plan to smuggle radio active material out of the country. When Louis loses his sight York sees an opportunity to get hold of money. Una persuades him to murder Louis and take his place.

The landlord threatens to sell the house unless she can come up with the £50 deposit to purchase the house herself. People she has helped in the past club together and get the money for her only for it to be lost to a blackmailer.
