MURDER MOST FOWL

Our summer Members Evening featured a 'whodunnit' Murder Mystery MURDER MOST FOWL by Chris Martin - a comic production set in 1954. There was a great turnout of some sixty members and their guests. The cast gave a spirited performance of the play, with the audience having to choose between four suspects to discover which two were the guily pair. Through all the clues and red herrings, no group were able correctly to identify both culprits. A prize was awarded to a team who had found one of the guilty parties.
Cast members were Pat Arculus, Iszy Hoad, Julian Hoad, Alice Mills, Ian Stuart, Jean Trew and Penny Walker. The play was directed by Angela Sloan. We were treated to a fine ploughman's supper, with ice creams to follow. Our president, Hermin Daley, was presented with a bouquet, a specially-made cake, and a picture collage of some of her most dramatic moments to mark her seventy years with the society. It was Hermin who kept WCDS going over difficult years, and without her the society would undoubtedly not exist today. photos to follow

A LITTLE BOX OF OBLIVION - a one-act comedy
written by Stephen Bean, directed by Amanda Hislop

A lady with green hair asks a chap on a park bench reading his newspaper to look after a box for her. She instructs him not to move the box at all, and rushes off. Various characters appear and speculate wildly with doom-laden ideas on what might be in the box. after a while the lady retruns to claim her box, which at that moment is being heartily shaken. The actors were Hermin Daley, Rob Ingram, Elizabeth Ling, Karon Oliver and Sue Goble.
The evening attracted some sixty members and guests. Supper comprised quiche, salad and jacket potato with an ice-cream dessert. A good time was had by all.
